A Note from Barbara Leutwiler,
We all love Point Park and many have been married there. After speaking with Shane Hale (GL City) and Jeff Underwood (US Forest Service) this is what we've come up with for now.
"Friends of Point Park" will be securing funds, hands-on help, and serving up fun for the reforestation project of our beloved park. A landscape architect advises that initially we should think in terms of larger trees going for $500-700. Phase 1 will cost around $10K-$20K.
We are beginning Phase 1 of the project and are actively looking for volunteers and funds to help restore the park. Barbara & Robert Leutwiler, Paul Harrington, Jim Feucht, Richard McQueary & Jane Kemp, Bill Plage, Nancy & Tom Porter, the City of Grand Lake and the US Forest Service are acting as the Steering Committee. Anyone interested should email Barbara (click here) or call her at 303-817-9144. We welcome all GLYC members to help with fund raising or planting work. We will be planting trees and flowers on May 9th in Point Park starting at 9:00 AM and hope you will join our efforts. Further news will be updated after the March 23rd workshop.
Please spread the word about this project and help in any way you can.
